Pianist Catherine Godes in recital

Pianist Catherine Godes presents her annual faculty recital in Wattenbarger Auditorium in the Bryan Fine Arts Building on the Tennessee Tech University campus at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.

The recital will feature Robert Schumannʼs “Scenes from Childhood” and the second book of preludes by Claude Debussy. She will open the recital with a Prelude and Fugue by J.S. Bach.

Godes received the doctorate in musical arts from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and has taught at West Virginia University, Fairmont University, the Tennessee Governorʼs School for the Arts and the Southeast Chamber Institute.

She recently developed the TTU Young Artist Piano Competition along with TTU biology professor S.K. Ballal. The competition was established in honor of her late husband pianist Herman Godes.

Godes is a prominent teacher in the area, and her students continue to win competitions in the region.  She is a member of the executive board of Tennessee Music Teachers Association and lectures for the Bryan Symphony Orchestra.
