Printmaking exhibit opens at Joan Derryberry Art GalleryKevin J. Kelly's exhibit of block prints goes on display at Tennessee Tech University's Joan Derryberry Art Gallery on Thursday, Jan. 13.
The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Roaden University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A gallery talk and reception with the artist is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3.
Kelly's work has been shown both nationally and internationally in more than 30 group and solo exhibitions, most recently at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.
Much of Kelly's work is inspired by the physicality and block-manipulation of the printmaking process and his recent prints can be viewed as visually organic. He addresses aspects of space, line and form through dynamic scale change, sequential imagery, a combination of line variation and consideration of positive and negative space in attempts to push and pull the viewer's eye throughout the picture plane.
