Putnam County’s Humburg receives scholarship
Gilbert Humburg of Baxter was recently awarded the Carlene Hall Memorial Scholarship from Tennessee Tech University.
Humberg is a senior manufacturing and industrial technology student who hopes to manage a factory and advocate for machine and plant safety after he graduates. He is a U.S. Marine veteran and holds a 3.09 GPA.
He is one of three students selected to receive the scholarship, which is named in honor of the personal friend of an anonymous donor. An endowment of $500,000 was given to TTU’s Office of Disability Services to pay for scholarships for students with at least a 3.0 GPA and who meet several other criteria as set by the Office of Disability Services.
