Relieve Your Baseball Fever at TTU Night with the Nashville Sounds

It's time for baseball, hot dogs, and . . . Tennessee Technological University's Awesome Eagle, Elvis and Marching Cobras.

Here's your chance to add new twists to the summer traditions of watching baseball and eating hot dogs by coming to the Nashville Sounds' Tennessee Tech Night at Greer Stadium on July 11.

You, your family and friends can be the envy of everyone else in the stadium as you relax and eat under the shady tents in the outfield. Between innings, there will be all kinds of diversions, including the Sounds' ballpark characters Elvis, Soap Opera Stars and the Marching Cobras. And Tennessee Tech fans can make the event a place to catch up with friends during the summer break.

"President Volpe will throw out the first pitch, fans from Cookeville will be able to sit together in the stands and have the picnic area to themselves, and Awesome will put on a show to rival the famous Chicken," said Lee Wray, Tennessee Tech's director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.

The events begin at 5 p.m. at the stadium picnic tents with all-you-can-eat hot dogs, chili dogs, chips, baked beans and soft drinks. Game time for the Sounds versus the New Orleans Zephyrs is 7 p.m. Stadium parking is free, and as a bonus, there'll be fireworks after the game.

"We're inviting the whole community -- businesses, church groups, civic organizations and families -- to take advantage of the opportunity to have fun as a group," said Wray. "It's a great way to show support for TTU."

Tickets, including the meal and game, are $10 for adults; $6 for children 14 and under. Call the Alumni Affairs Office at 372-3205 for more information.
