Scholarship established in honor of former ME chair Hudy Hewitt

Mechanical Engineering and the College of Engineering have established a perpetual scholarship in honor of former Mechanical Engineering Chairperson Hudy C. Hewitt Jr., who died last month while visiting family in Clinton, Tenn.

Upon retiring from Tennessee Tech in late 1989, Hewitt moved on to the University of New Orleans.

"Those who knew Hudy were saddened and shocked by his sudden death," says George Swisher, dean of the College of Engineering. "We hope that this scholarship will be a constant reminder of all the excellent work he did for the university and the engineering profession."

Contributions to the fund may be sent to Mechanical Engineering Chairperson Ed Griggs, Box 5014, or to Loretta Howard in the College of Engineering, Box 5005, Tennessee Tech, Cookeville, TN 38505. Checks should be made payable to the Engineering Development Foundation but marked for the Hudy C. Hewitt Scholarship Endowment.
