Speaker at TTU on April 10 to discuss nutrition for skin and vision health

Proper nutrition for vision and skin health will be the topic of a presentation next week sponsored by Tennessee Tech University’s School of Human Ecology.

Set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, in the Backdoor Playhouse, which is located in the rear of the Jere Whitson building, the presentation will feature Sheila Dana of Kemin Health, L.C.

She will talk about the role of lutein in contributing to the health of the eyes and skin, the only two organs of the body that are directly exposed to the outside environment.

Dana will also present research-based information about lutein and age-related macular degeneration.

“I have a personal interest in this lecture because I was diagnosed with macular degeneration seven years ago,” said Sue Bailey, director of human ecology at TTU. “Since then, I’ve diligently taken ocular nutrition supplements, which contain lutein, and my overall vision has significantly improved.”

The presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, call the School of Human Ecology at 931/372-3157.
