Spring season of Trombones at Tech opens Jan. 25

thumb Mixdorf_PhotoAtlanta-based trombonist Cory Mixdorf will open the spring season of trombone concerts at Tennessee Tech University with a performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in Wattenbarger Auditorium.

Accompanied by pianist Joni Chan, Mixdorf will perform works by Enrique Crepso, Alexander Arutiunian, Sergei Rachmaninov, Norman Bolter, Antonin Dvorak, Albert Hay Malotte and Michael Davis.

Mixdorf is the acting second trombonist with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, among others. He performs around the world, with upcoming performances at the 2013 Eastern Trombone Workshop, at the University of Brazil and across Germany.

Chan is an award-winning pianist who has performed across North America and in Hong Kong.

Sponsored by TTU’s Center Stage, the concert is free and open to the public. Wattenbarger Auditorium is located in the Bryan Fine Arts building at 1150 N. Dixie Avenue on TTU’s campus.
