Stiner Leadership Center to honor TTU alum's dignified Army careerTennessee Tech University's Army ROTC department will dedicate its classroom and training facilities as the "Stiner Leadership Center" on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. in honor of retired U.S. Army General Carl W. Stiner.
Gen. Carl W. Stiner was born and raised in LaFollette, Tenn. He graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1958 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture. He also was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and immediately upon graduation from TTU began serving his country. Not only did Gen. Stiner have an illustrious 35-year military career, but he also rose to the highest rank in the U.S. Army as a four star general, explained Lt. Col. Peter Uzelac, chairman of TTU's Military Science Department.
"The dedication ceremony will define the historical significance of General StinerÕs service to our country and the impact he has made in history, Uzelac said.
"More closely related, this dedication confers appreciation long overdue to General Stiner for his service to his country and alma mater," he added.The dedication ceremony will be officiated on the third floor landing of the west wing within Tucker Stadium.
