Sumner County nursing students receive scholarships at Tennessee Tech

Tennessee Tech University students Megan McAfee and David Wix have received the Theodore R. and Bonnie R. Deur Endowed Scholarship for 2012.

The scholarship goes to upper division nursing students who are in good accordance with institution policies and who demonstrate a need for financial assistance.

McAfee, a 2009 graduate of White House Christian Academy, is the daughter of Gerry and Kellie McAfee of White House. Her grandparents are Harold and Linda Logan of Broken Arrow, Okla. McAfee is a junior at TTU and a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She plans to work at a nearby hospital after graduating.

Wix, a graduate of Westmoreland High School, is the son of Tammy Mitchell of Westmoreland and David Wix Sr. of LaFayette.

A senior at TTU, Wix is a chairman and member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and a member of the TTU Student Nurses Association. Wix plans to work as a registered nurse in Tennessee after graduating.
