TTU Purple Pride Days corresponds with the reopening of residence halls. This year, the celebration will begin Monday, Aug. 20, and end in the middle of September.
In addition to having discounts at local businesses, called Pride Partners, and attending sporting events and other activities on campus during the early part of the semester, Cookeville-area residents are welcome to pick up yard signs to show their support for the university.
“The community’s support makes a difference and makes a good impression with students and their families,” said Bobbie Maynard, TTU marketing director. “Purple Pride Days is a great way for companies and residents to show their support and introduce students to the community.”
This year’s yard signs are vertical and feature the eagle head illustration. They can be picked up on TTU’s campus at the information booth and bookstore in the Roaden University Center, at the Alumni Office in Jere Whitson Hall and the ticket office in Hooper Eblen Center. Off campus, signs are available at Highlands Visitor Center and the Chamber of Commerce in the Leslie Town Centre.
Dozens of businesses are participating in the Pride Partners program, and the university accepts new members throughout the year. For more information, visit www.tntech.edu/pridedays/partners.
“We are very thankful for the support and donations from local businesses, especially our Pride Partners,” Maynard said. “We hope all businesses will participate in Pride Days by creating purple and gold displays, putting a TTU Pride message on their marquees, or encouraging employees to wear Tech purple and gold.”
