The Importance of Being Earnest auditions set for Feb. 25, 26 at TTU Backdoor Playhouse

Auditions for the spring production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest will be held on Sunday and Monday, Feb. 25 and 26, at Tennessee Tech University’s Backdoor Playhouse.

Auditions are set for 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday and 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday. The Backdoor Playhouse is located in the rear of the Jere Whitson Building on campus.

Casting is open to all interested people, and speaking roles are available for four females and five males, all ranging in age from 20 to 60.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, copies of which are available for 24-hour loan from Director Mark H. Creter, whose office is located in Room 225 of South Hall.

The Importance of Being Earnest has been described as giving “joy to thousands who savor its brilliant lines like familiar music.”

A Center Stage event presented in cooperation with the TTU English department, the 16th Annual Dorothy Printz Pennebaker Memorial Spring Production of the show is set for April 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 27 and 28 at 8 p.m., April 26 at 10 p.m. and April 21 at 2 p.m.
