Three from Jackson County honored by TTU
Tennessee Tech University students Lucas Hix, Katherine Breidert and Jonathan Williams are the 2012 recipients of academic awards from the College of Arts and Sciences.
Hix, a 2009 graduate of Jackson County High School is the son of Daniel and Anita Hix of Gainesboro and is a junior wildlife and fisheries science major at TTU. Hix received the B.L. and Lillian Ridley Scholarship for wildlife and fishery majors.
Hix is a member of Beta Beta Beta, the Biological National Honor Society, and the American Fisheries Society.
Breidert, a 2009 graduate of Jackson County High School is the daughter of Charles Breidert of Gainesboro and is a junior English major at TTU. Breidert received the Ray G. Ballew Scholarship for English majors.
She has performed at the Backdoor Playhouse in Oedipus Rex and Love’s Labour’s Lost.
Williams, a 2004 graduate of Jackson County High, is the son of Dennis and Lisa Mayberry of Cookeville and is a senior wildlife and fisheries major at TTU. Williams received the Bartoo Award.
Williams is the Student Fisheries Association vice president.
