Three from Knox County receive awards from TTU

thumb AS-KnoxThree Tennessee Tech University students were awarded by the College of Arts and Sciences this semester for their accomplishments.

Sophomore physics major Joseph Clayton, of Knoxville, received the Robert L. Shannon Jr. Physics Scholarship. Clayton, son of Dwight and Pam Clayton, is a 2011 graduate of the Christian Academy of Knoxville.

Freshman history major Paige Lorelle Ottenfeld, of Farragut, received the Best Freshman Award and the Winchester History scholarship. Daughter of Conrad and Lynn Ottenfeld, she is a 2012 graduate of Farragut High School. After finishing her degree at TTU, she plans to become a high school history teacher.

Her sister, geology major Chelsea Ottenfeld, received the CAS Award for Excellence in the Liberal Arts. A recent TTU graduate, she will attend New Mexico State University for a master’s degree in geology. A 2009 graduate of Farragut High School, Chelsea was president of TTU’s geoclub, a member of the Wesley Foundation’s Leadership Council and has participated in undergraduate research with Colorado University, Boulder and University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
