TTU arts calendar for week beginning Oct. 19

THIS WEEK’S FEATURED EVENT:International Film Series: Monsieur Ibrahimm

This series is a four-part examination of the cinema of Northern Africa. The movie, which is the first of four films, will show on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Media Center. It is set in a very poor neighborhood in Paris, and stars Omar Shariff and Pierre Boulanger. Students must show Eagle ID Card for attendance tracking.

Appalachian Center for Craft
Brian Sommerville’s ceramic sculpture exhibit, entitled FORGIVE US ALL, will be showing through November 3 in Gallery Two.

TTU Music
There will be a Bryan Symphony Orchestra Concert on Sunday, October 19, 2008 from 3 to 5 p.m.

T. Wes Moore will be performing a Senior Bassoon recital on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.

There will be a University Orchestra Concert on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

A Fall Trumpet Festival will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 7:30 to 8:25 p.m. and will resume at 8:30 until 9:25 p.m.

There will be a Jazz Band Concert on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

A Studio Voice Recital is scheduled for Friday, October 24, 2008 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Eva Amsler, a Center Stage Guest Artist, will be performing on Friday, October 24, 2008 from 8 to 9 p.m.

Joan Derryberry gallery
Carol LeBaron’s Fiber art exhibit will be showing Monday, September 29 through October 24.

The Appalachian Center for Craft is located six miles off Hwy. 56 (Interstate 40, Exit 273) near Smithville. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
