TTU arts roundup for Feb. 16: Russian orchestra performs
Internationally recognized, Moscow-based Chamber Orchestra Kremlin will perform at Tennessee Tech University, Feb. 18.The concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Wattenbarger Auditorium in the Bryan Fine Arts Building. This Center Stage event is free and open to the public.
In addition to presenting concerts and festivals in Moscow, Chamber Orchestra Kremlin tours regularly in North and South America, Europe and the Far East.
Whether it is the highly acclaimed CDs or its mesmerizing concerts, the group’s warmth and high energy create seductive performances that stay with listeners. The orchestra has carved a niche for itself under the creative baton of its founder and music director, Misha Rachlevsky.

- “Static,” wood and metal installation by Brian Ferrell, continues until Feb. 18, Gallery Two.
- “Boys Toys,” mixed media/metals installation by Nathan Dube, continues until March 10, North Windows Gallery.
- The Bachelor of Fine Arts Juried Exhibition will continue until Monday, March 29, in Gallery One.
- The Artist in Residence Annual Exhibition, consisting of six current artists in residence, will be shown Feb. 28-April 12 in Gallery Two.

- “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged),” 8 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 20. Matinee: 2 p.m. Feb. 20. Late Show: 10 p.m. Feb. 18.
Center Stage
- Chamber Orchestra Kremlin performs 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18. There will be a “Meet the Artists” session earlier that day at 11 a.m.
- The Fisk Jubilee Singers perform 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19.
- The Core Ensemble—Tahirah Whittington on cello, High Hinton on piano and Michaela Parola on percussion—will be producing, along with Kim Hines, and performing “Ain’t I a Woman!” at 7p.m. on Monday, March 1.

- Jack Girard’s collage and mixed works will show until Saturday, March 20.

- Whitney Pope’s senior flute recital is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20.
- Roy Adams’s senior student recital is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20.
- The Bryan Symphony Orchestra featuring Derryberry Concerto Competition winner Sara Rupe (clarinet) performs 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21.
- The TTU Band performs 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22.
- The University Orchestra performs 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
- West Point Band’s Academy Wind Quintet, 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25.
- The TTU Jazz Ensembles will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25.
- The Mastersingers concert in scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27.
- Judith Sullivan’s faculty organ recital is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28.
- Sara Rupe’s junior clarinet recital is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28.
- Eric J. Willie’s faculty percussion recital is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2.
The Appalachian Center for Craft is located six miles off Highway 56 (Interstate 40, Exit 273) near Smithville. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Roaden University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
