TTU arts roundup: Poetry slam session set at the Backdoor Playhouse

thumb_poetryrevivalFour poetry slam artists visit Tennessee Tech University for a 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, performance.

The Night Kite Revival is part of a national tour, and the Cookeville stop happens at the Backdoor Playhouse located inside the Jere Whitson Building. The Center Stage event is free and open to the public.

"Inspired by Derrick Brown's ability to weave words, I began to follow his work," said student Kassi Thomas, campus host.

Brown, Anis Mojgani, Buddy Wakefield and Shira Erlichman take a mixture of rock music, dance and poetry to create an interactive performance. They are individual artists who have performed together for the past three years. Their works have been seen everywhere from the House of Blues to "The Tonight Show."

The artists will be available after the show to answer questions and sell books.
