thumb BAQRyanSnellTennessee Tech University’s Brass Arts Quintet will perform a 7:30 concert on Monday, Feb. 10, featuring music from turn of the century Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The program includes the quintet’s premiere of two arrangements by the legendary English composer Edward Elgar and America’s prolific jazz composer Sammy Nestico.

Two Latin-style works, the familiar 1940’s pop tune “Tico, Tico” and the virtuosic “Ride of Fire” by American composer Kevin McKee, complete the program.

“This varied and exciting program has solo features for trumpet and trombone, expressive romantic music from turn of the century Czarist Russia, and a virtuosic new work appropriately titled ‘Ride of Fire’ for its musical fireworks,” said TTU trumpet professor and quintet member Charles Decker.

The other quintet members are TTU professors Chris McCormick, trumpet; Greg Danner, horn; Joshua Hauser, trombone and graduate assistant Ryan Snell, tuba.

The Brass Arts Quintet has appeared on national concert specials for Public Television and records for Mark Recordings.

The free concert will be in the Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts Building, at 1150 N. Dixie Ave., on the TTU campus.
