TTU College of Business Dean Named to National Quality Panel

Robert Bell, Dean of the College of Business at Tennessee Technological University, has been appointed by the director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology to the 1999 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Balridge National Quality Award.

The award is offered annually to American companies, health care organizations and educational institutions that demonstrate national role model levels of quality and performance excellence. The Board of Examiners, comprised of several hundred leading quality experts selected from industry, professional and trade organizations, universities and government, is responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications submitted for the award and conducting site visits for award finalists.

This is the fourth year Bell has served on the board. He also serves on the Board of Directors and Panel of Judges for the Tennessee Quality Award and is a member of the regional quality council at the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce. Bell has also served on international quality panels, serving as chair of the panel of judges for the Mauritius National Quality Award for the country of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.
