TTU foreign language professor honored for excellenceTennessee Tech University foreign language professor Phillip J. Campana has many accomplishments in his career, and he recently added one more.
Campana, who teaches the German language and country and people courses at TTU, received the Founders’ Award for Professional Excellence in Language Education from the Central States Conference at its annual meeting in Chicago.
He recently organized the CSC’s 35th anniversary celebration and has served as chairman of the organization’s board of directors for three years.
Campana was a founding member of the Tennessee chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German and has served as its president, secretary-treasurer and on its executive board.
He also served as president and board member of the Tennessee Foreign Language Teaching Association and was a member of the Board of Governors of the Tennessee Foreign Language Institute.
Currently, Campana is a book review editor of the AATG’s journal, Die Unterrichtspraxis, and serves on the editorial review board.
Campana has received numerous honors and awards from the organizations to which he has given his time. TTU has also honored him with two Outstanding Faculty Awards.
He has served for 33 years as TTU’s chairman of the department of foreign languages.
