TTU, MTSU renew old rivalry at next week's football game

TTU’s Awesome Eagle wants you! . . . to help Tennessee Tech University renew its long-time rivalry with Middle Tennessee State University at next week’s football game.

Set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, at MTSU’s Floyd Stadium, the game — which will be televised live on ESPNU — will be the first match-up between the rival institutions since 1998, when MTSU moved to Division I-A in the Sun Belt Conference.

TTU fans will have the opportunity to rekindle the rivalry right with a 4 p.m. pre-game tailgate event, hosted by President Bob Bell and TTU Alumni Relations, in front of the Thomas H. Jackson Building on MTSU’s campus.

A pep rally with the TTU Marching Band, which marks its first away game visit in some time, is also planned for 5 p.m.

Cost of the tailgate event is $15 per person and includes both a meal and a game ticket. Reservations are required and can be made by calling TTU’s Alumni Relations at 800/889-8730 by Monday, Sept. 11.
