thumb_Tech_Pride_SignsIt's that time of year again! TTU Pride Days begin on Aug. 15 and run through Sept. 8.

"TTU Pride Days is about welcoming new and returning students back to campus and the community," said TTU Marketing Director Bobbie Maynard. "This annual celebration strives to introduce students to the companies and people who support the university by showing their purple and gold pride and offering special discounts to students, faculty and staff. The community's support makes a difference and makes a good impression with students and their families."

TTU Pride Days always correspond with the opening of campus residence halls to welcome students each fall — typically in mid- August through the first home football game, which will be held on Sept. 8.

To help the community celebrate, TTU Pride yard signs are available for pick up on campus at the RUC Information Desk, Alumni Office, TTU Ticket Office and University Bookstore. Signs area also available for pick up in the community at the Highlands Visitor Center, Chamber of Commerce in the Leslie Town Centre and at SBS Bookstore.

Maynard added to help celebrate, community members are urged to visit campus, attend sporting events, concerts and other special activities, or become involved in some of the many community-oriented groups and activities on campus.

"We're once again holding several on-campus decorating contests this year for students, faculty and staff," said Maynard. "We are very thankful for all the support from local businesses who have donated items for the contest prizes, especially our Pride Partners. We encourage all businesses to participate in Pride Days by creating purple and gold window or lobby displays, having a TTU Pride message on your marquee or having employees wear Tech colors."

Pride Partners are local businesses that support the university by offering some form of a yearlong TTU discount to students, faculty and staff. There is no charge or fee to become a Pride Partner, and the discounts are listed on the university's Web site. New Pride Partners are accepted throughout the year.
