TTU Pride Days runs Aug. 18-30 this yearSummer days are getting shorter but purple pride is growing stronger this time of year as TTU Pride Days launch Aug. 18-30.
The event started several years ago as a way for the community to welcome new and returning students to campus and to encourage local businesses to take advantage of the opportunity to offer special, university-related promotions.
“Pride Days give us an opportunity to celebrate the relationship the university and community share, and they give businesses a chance to meet new customers and thank current customers who are a part of the TTU community,” said Monica Greppin, TTU associate vice president for communications and marketing.
The ever-popular TTU Pride yard signs are available again this year. Distribution locations include, on-campus — Roaden University Center information desk and bookstore, Alumni Relations Office and Hooper Eblen Center — and, off-campus — Leslie Town Centre, Student Book and Supply, Kroger, Sav-a-Lot, First National Bank, First Tennessee Bank and Regions Bank.
As TTU Pride Partners, businesses reap the benefits of reaching the campus community with promotions, and the university enjoys the visible show of support.
Any business can become a TTU Pride Partner by planning a special promotion or discount or by contacting the university about any TTU specials already offered. Partner promotions and discounts are already being listed on the TTU Pride Days web site.
Every Pride Partner receives a special decal to place on TTU Pride yard signs or on inside displays to identify the business as a partner to area customers. There is no charge for participating in the program.
Or businesses may simply choose to show support by decorating their locations.
“We especially appreciate welcome messages or TTU Pride messages on business marquees,” said Greppin.
All the excitement generated by TTU Pride Days offers a great segue for football fans. The first home game is set for 7 p.m. on Aug. 28, when the Golden Eagles take on Gardner-Webb.
