TTU SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE IS DEC. 15
Hoping for a Tennessee Tech University scholarship to be under the tree on Christmas morning? Well, you can't order one out of the Sears Wish Book, but you could receive one if you submit your scholarship application by December 15.
Every 2003 high school graduate who is a Tennessee resident and applies for admission to TTU by Dec. 15, 2002, will be considered for a University Service Scholarship as long as they meet grade and test requirements.
There are three steps to ensure the prospective student a chance at a scholarship:
- First, the TTU admission application must be received by Dec. 15. Senior high school students should submit their application for admission by the beginning of the first semester of their senior year to allow enough time to process the application.
- Second, high school guidance counselors should be requested to send in high school transcripts and test scores as early as possible to ensure that they arrive to the Admissions Office by the scholarship deadline.
- Third, prospective students will need to complete TTU's on-line scholarship application and the Financial Aid estimate form also by Dec. 15. The Financial Aid estimate form must be completed for all need-based scholarships. However, the form does not replace the need for the official Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Financial Aid estimate form is an unofficial need calculator that is only used for the university's scholarship selection process. All other forms of financial aid require the submission of the FAFSA.
Students do not need to apply for specific scholarships. TTU's Admissions Office determines which scholarships each applicant is eligible for and submits the application to the appropriate area.
However, some scholarships require more testing or information. Music scholarships, for example, request the applicant audition for the scholarship. If a student applies for a scholarship that requires additional work, the department will contact the applicant. Only scholarship winners will be notified about their status. If a student is not selected to receive a scholarship, there are other types of financial aid through the University or other sources that could be obtained.
Most scholarships for freshmen or transfer students are awarded by TTU's Admissions Office. All inquiries concerning TTU scholarships should be directed to the Admissions Office, P.O. Box 5006, Cookeville, TN 38505, or by phone at (800) 255-8881.
