TTU stage to be packed with musicians in Friday concert
The stage in Tennessee Tech University’s Derryberry Auditorium will be packed with musicians Friday during a concert by David Wimbish and the Collection.
The Greensboro, N.C., based folk band is never quite the same. There are 18 musicians who perform regularly, but who is on stage at each concert changes based on individual availability.
“David Wimbish and the Collection bring a Mumford-flavored choir of benevolent chaos,” said event organizer Andrew Smith, TTU English instructor. “Their no-holds-barred barrage of jangle-folk jamboree stretches indy-pop parameters and resets our musical barometers for unexpected blessings.”
The concert begins at 7 p.m.
The band blends folk and bluegrass genres and as many as 20 musicians for each song in its spiritual music. The group combines instruments ranging from the accordion to the cello, the flute to the glockenspiel.
Sponsored by TTU’s Center Stage, the concert is free and open to the public. Derryberry Auditorium is in Derryberry Hall at 1 William L. Jones Drive on the TTU campus.
