Featuring guest speakers and written communications workshops, the event gives students a chance to meet with business and industry executives to get stories, tips and advice.

“Professional Development Week is for students in the upper divisions of their major; it’s a gateway for them to launch their careers,” said Amy Jo Carpenter, program manager at the Student to Career Center, housed in the TTU College of Business. “At this stage in their educations, students need to start thinking about forming their professional selves.”

Dailey is a member of the Young Leaders of America, part of the American Swiss Foundation that serves to strengthen the relationship between the U.S. and Switzerland.

Other speakers include executives from Calfkiller Brewery, a microbrewing company based in Sparta, Tenn.; a panel from Averitt Express; TTU alumni and executives of FedEx, Northwestern Mutual, TCS Tire and Puresafety; and nationally acclaimed author Julie Bauke.

“Non-academic resources can offer a lot of expertise to the students. They are interacting with people who have been there before and who know what they’re going through,” Carpenter said. “This helps them figure out their professional selves.”

An etiquette dinner for business majors will be held on Tuesday, March 27.

All of the events except the etiquette dinner are open to all students and members of the Cookeville community. Only business majors need to register for the events.
