TTU teams with Cookeville High School's Advanced Concert Choir for show Sept. 16

For the 3rd consecutive year, the Department of Music and Art at Tennessee Tech is collaborating with Cookeville High School’s Advanced Concert Choir on a major choral orchestral work.

The concert will take place on the campus of Tennessee Tech at the Bryan Fine Arts Center at the corner of 12th and Dixie on Tuesday evening, September 16th, at 7:30.

“This collaboration is an incredible growth opportunity for my choir,” says Michael Choate, director of choral activities at Cookeville High School. “This is the first opportunity to perform a masterwork with an orchestral accompaniment for most of these students. We also enjoy the opportunity to perform in the wonderful Wattenbarger Auditorium.”

The program will include a performance by the Tech Orchestra and Tech Chorale of Handel’s “Let thy hand be strengthened” led by Tech’s Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Craig Zamer.

“I was so glad to see a collaboration between Tech and the community when I arrived last year and have really enjoyed working with Michael and the students at CHS," Zamer said.

The Tech University Orchestra will also perform an instrumental work premiered by the group last year – “Pinnacle” by Tech faculty member Greg Danner.

Dan Allcott, Director of Orchestral Studies at Tech says, “We know CHS students, family and friends will enjoy being on our campus to experience this concert. We have a wonderful department here, with students from throughout the Southeast. It’s important for our own community to know how strong our department is, and to feel welcome here as well.”

Tickets are $5.00 at the door. CHS students may purchase tickets through their choral department.
