TTU’s Brass Arts Quintet welcomes new tuba player in Oct. 1 season opener

BAQRyanSnellThe Brass Arts Quintet at Tennessee Tech University will give a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The quintet is delighted to welcome graduate student Ryan Snell on tuba as the newest member of the ensemble. A 2012 TTU graduate of TTU, Snell is continuing his studies with R. Winston Morris, TTU tuba professor and will perform with the Brass Arts Quintet.

The program will feature new works composed and arranged specially for the ensemble including three selections by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, “Dance for Brass” by Chris McCormick, and three selections by the rock band Chicago. The group will also perform “Quintet for Brass” by Malcolm Arnold and “Five Pieces for Bass Trombone” by Nelson Riddle.

Members of the quintet are: Charles Decker and Chris McCormick, trumpets; Greg Danner, horn; Joshua Hauser, trombone; and Ryan Snell, tuba.  

The concert will be in TTU’s Wattenbarger Auditorium in the Bryan Fine Arts building at 1150 N. Dixie Ave. It is free and open to the public.
