Tennessee Tech University’s Christy Killman has been selected president-elect of the Tennessee Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Killman is TTU assistant professor of exercise science, physical education and wellness.

Killman was elected earlier this week during the organization’s 40th annual convention held in Murfreesboro.

The 900-member TAHPERD promotes physical activity and positive health behaviors for Tennesseans through continuing education for professionals in related fields.

Some 30 TTU EXPW majors attended the conference, with one presenting a full session and another accepted to the research session.

Killman will begin her service to the TAHPERD’s leadership development conference in February 2010.  She also will be a co-presenter with faculty members Mike Phillips and Rhonda Folio on the expansion of the EXPW department at the National Association of Kinesiology, Physical Education in Higher Education annual conference to be held in Scottsdale, Ariz., in January 2010.
