TTU’s Craft Center exposes “genuine fake” Chinese teapots by Japanese artist
Each of Sekino-Bove’s teapots has a Chinese or Japanese proverb on one side with the English equivalent on the reverse. The combination, according to the artist, builds a bridge between the cultures that define her life and highlights similarities between them.
Sekino-Bove will hold a demonstration, artist talk and reception at the Craft Center. The demonstration will be from 1:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the advanced ceramic studio and the talk begins at 4:30. The reception will follow in the Craft Center lobby. All three events will be on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
The show, “Two in the Hand,” will be in the Craft Center’s Gallery One. It is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
The Craft Center is approximately six miles from Interstate 04 at exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Go south on Highway 56; turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
