TTU's Craft Center offers serene meeting, retreat optionsLook no further than the serene, natural surroundings of the Appalachian Center for Craft to have your meeting, retreat or other group gathering.
The Craft Center, a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University, is equipped with a large conference room, two audio/visual rooms and full-service catering from its on-site restaurant, the walkway café.
Its conference room is 1,280 square feet and can accommodate up to 75 people. The audio/visual rooms — which are perfect for break-out sessions — are 914 and 595 square feet, respectively. The larger room can accommodate 75 people, seating only, and the smaller room can accommodate 30.
Rooms can be arranged to fit each group’s specifications, and there is no room fee for TTU groups. Non-university groups pay only a $50 per day/per room fee.
Catering services from the walkway café can range from simple continental fare to elegant evening dining. The café is 1,800 square feet and can seat up to 100 people.
Regular café hours for breakfast and lunch during the fall and spring semesters are 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the menu offers homemade soups, fresh salads, piled-high deli sandwiches, fresh sorbets and gelato and more.
“Visiting the gallery and exhibitions at the Craft Center can be a welcome break during meetings,” said Shannon Terry, administrative assistant at the facility. Daily hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and all TTU employees with valid Eagle Card identifications receive a 10 percent discount in the gallery year-round.
The Craft Center is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). To get there, go south toward Smithville on Highway 56 and turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
