The concert — which is free and open to the public — closes out the quintet’s 32nd season and features music recorded on their latest compact disc.
Among the pieces to be featured in the concert is one by TTU’s own Greg Danner, whose composition “Into the Blue” was inspired by the style and tradition of bluegrass music.
Other pieces featured in the show will be by Ernesto Lecuona, Nino Rota, Maurice Ravel and Jean Berger.
The repertoire of the Cumberland Quintet over the years has ranged from classic wind masterpieces to modern and popular music of the day, and the ensemble has performed as a guest artist at various educational meetings and seminars, including the College Music Society, Tennessee Music Educators Association, National Flute Association and Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic.
The group’s latest CD, entitled Shadow and Dreams, is available on Centaur Records.
The Cumberland Quintet’s members are made up of TTU music faculty who also serve as faculty for the Southeast Chamber Music Institute, a prominent workshop for high school musicians.
