TTU’s Cumberland Quintet in concert Feb. 4
One of the highlights of the concert, which includes pieces from several musical periods, is their performance of “Wintry Moments” by TTU faculty member Yoomi Paick.
“We are very fortunate to have young, up-and-coming composers such as Dr. Paick writing for the woodwind quintet,” said quintet oboist and TTU professor William Woodworth. “‘Wintry Moments’ mimics the winter sounds of nature such as the wind blowing or snow flurries, yet the end gives the listener hopes for spring.”
The performance will be the world premier of the piece.
The concert will also include Franz Danzi’s Quintetto Op. 67 No. 3, Zoltan Kodaly’s Zongora Musika No. 2 and “Carib Dance,” a Caribbean dance piece, by Jeffrey Agrell.
The quintet’s members include Roger Martin, flute; Wonkak Kim, clarinet; James Lotz, bassoon and Jeremy Hansen, horn, in addition to Woodworth.
The concert will be in TTU’s Wattenbarger Auditorium, which is in the Bryan Fine Arts Building, 1150 N. Dixie Ave. It is free and open to the public.
