Tennessee Technological University's College of Education Dean Karen Adams has been elected president of the Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities.

Adams was elected for the 1999-2000 term. She began her duties as president-elect for 1998-1999 at the groupÕs February meeting in New Orleans.

"Dr. Adams is a talented educator who impresses people with her administrative skills and her concern for students," said Tennessee Tech President Angelo Volpe.

TECSCU is a national organization of deans and directors of state colleges and universities committed to providing an education of excellence for future teachers.

The council works closely with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and the American Association for Teacher Education as it seeks to strengthen bonds among education professionals.
