TTU's Under the Sun publication earns national recognition

Tennessee Tech University’s Under the Sun publication has again received national recognition.

In Haughton Mifflin’s Best American Essays annual anthology, two essays from Under the Sun were listed as “Notable Essays of 2007.” They are by Joan Connor and Priscilla Long.

Every year since its first publication in 1996, at least one essay from the annual TTU publication has received notable recognition from the definitive anthology, which puts those selections in the same category as others from such distinguished magazines as The New Yorker and Harper’s.

“When it was first created, Under the Sun was a leader in its field, and it continues to be a nationally recognized publication,” said Heidemarie Weidner, editor and writing and composition instructor at TTU.

Under the Sun features writers from all across the country and around the globe, with submissions coming from English writing authors from as far away as Germany, Hong Kong and the Middle East.
