TTU's Visual Art Society's annual sale Dec. 1, 2Holiday shoppers following Thanksgiving may not have to be “dashing through the snow,” but they will have the opportunity to dash over to Tennessee Tech University’s Visual Art Society student organization’s annual fine craft sale.
Running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, in the Joan Derryberry Art Gallery on the first floor of the Roaden University Center, the sale benefits VAS student projects throughout the year.
“The funds raised really help supplement the projects we work on throughout the year — sending students to arts conferences, hosting visiting artists, attending promotional events and making charitable contributions to arts-related organizations,” said Cara Young, president of the VAS and an art education and fibers double major at TTU.
Among the items for sale will be blown glass vases and bowls, ceramic plate sets, cups and mugs, unique fine jewelry, woven, felted and hand-painted scarves and more.
“We’re thrilled to have so many new VAS members this year — the holiday sale is a great time to showcase the work of these young artists,” Young said.
