Two from Sumner County receive awards from TTU

thumb Sumner-MatthewsEisenbraunTwo Sumner County natives were rewarded for their studies this spring by Tennessee Tech University’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Gallatin resident Cody Matthews received the Kay Ballew scholarship. A junior majoring in English and communications, Matthews is a wide receiver on the TTU football team. Son of Chuck and Chandra Matthews, he hopes to continue playing after graduation and then pursue a career as a writer or an actor. He is a 2010 graduate of Gallatin High School.

Recent TTU graduate Thomas Eisenbraun received the Senior Award for Academic Excellence. The sociology major was a member of the Alpha Delta Lambda, Alpha Mu Gamma and Alpha Kappa Delta honor societies. A 2010 graduate of Merrol Hyde Magnet School, the Portland native is the son of Mike and Nancy Eisenbraun and brother of Timmy. He plans to go to graduate school and pursue a career in law enforcement.
