Ryan Woodlee earns TTU Lifeguard Scholarship

For his outstanding leadership and character as both a student and employee of Tennessee Tech University, Ryan Woodlee, a native of Roane County, recently received the 2000 Outstanding Lifeguard Scholarship.

Woodlee, the TTU Fitness Center's head lifeguard, earned the award for his leadership in helping maintain an accident-free record at the pool and for his outstanding character, according to colleagues at the Fitness Center.

"Ryan is reliable and more than competent in his duties," said Audrey Cody, Fitness Center office supervisor. "We value his experience and his dedication to quality and perfection in whatever his responsibilities."

Woodlee received the award from Capt. William Anderson of Cookeville, who sponsors the annual scholarship, and TTU President Bob Bell. Recipients of the award must show outstanding character and leadership qualities.

The center's 25-meter lap pool has remained accident-free since it opened with the center in 1991. More than 24,000 swimmers have visited the pool since then.

Woodlee, graduated from TTU with a finance degree in December. He will begin graduate school in the spring.
