COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (June 23, 2003) — Eight Tennessee Tech University students will serve as ambassadors representing the College of Agriculture and Human Ecology during the next academic year.

They are Amanda Gray of Albany, Ky.; Richard Hansen of Reliance; Lee Hitchcock and LeAnn Riddle, both of Sparta; Krystal Kelly of Manchester; Sarah Morgan of White House; Carla Wampler of Dayton; and Stephanie Wheat of Crossville.

"We are extremely proud of these agriculture and human ecology students who have shown such enthusiasm for the university, the college and their program of study and a commitment to assisting in recruitment and public relations. I am enthusiastic about serving as adviser to the team," said Dean Donald Elkins.

In addition to assisting TTU’s College of Agriculture and Human Ecology in student recruitment and public relations efforts, the primary purposes of the AG/HEC Ambassadors Program are to:

• Promote the agriculture and human ecology, home economics and family and consumer science professionals at TTU;

• Increase awareness of the array and diversity of agricultural and human ecology career opportunities throughout TTU, the community and the Upper Cumberland region;

• Provide an arena by which agriculture and human ecology students may serve the College and the university while gaining useful leadership skills and public speaking experience;

•And foster or enhance a greater cooperative spirit between faculty and staff and students in the School of Human Ecology and the School of Agriculture.
