COOKEVILLE,
Tenn. (May 1, 2003) -- TTU Marketing professor Karl Mann was recently
honored by the American Advertising Federation as its 2003 Distinguished
Advertising Educator.
The annual award recognizes the best advertising professors in the country
based on excellence in teaching and student advisement, scholarly research
and professional experience, and participation in advertising organizations,
the industry, academia and the community.
The Nashville Advertising Federation nominated Mann, who regularly involves
his students in chapter activities, including media tours, career days,
and mentor programs. Each year, our marketing students also participate
in NAF's production of the Addy Awards, an awards ceremony that honors
excellence in advertising.
Mann also is serving as this year's vice president-elect for the American
Marketing Association's Collegiate Division. Under his advisement, the
TTU chapter won AMA's Case Competition in 2001 and Top Southern Chapter
in 2000. Since 2001, he has served as the AMA's case coordinator in charge
of all aspects of an annual competition where student chapters present
marketing plans and solutions to a real corporate marketing problem.
Mann's publications focus on marketing research and quantitative methodology,
supply-chain management and business-to-business marketing. He also has
developed marketing plans, computer models and forecasting models for several
corporations.
