COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 14, 2003) Community leaders with an interest
in cooperating during unstable economic times are invited to attend Managing
and Surviving in Uncertain Times, the first in a series of dinner
meetings sponsored by the Upper Cumberland Chapter of the American Production
and Inventory Control Society.
The dinner, which features short presentations and a question and answer
period, will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, in Tennessee Tech Universitys
Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room. The cost is $20, which includes
dinner.
Speakers will include Cookeville Mayor Chuck Womack, TTU President Bob
Bell, Averitt Express Regional Marketing Manager Charlie Webster, Flowserves
Jim McGeehin, Tutcos Pat McCaffrey, and TRWs Larry Kroggel.
TTU Professor Emeritus John Burnham will moderate the session designed
to help managers identify how to work at the local and regional level
to combat economic uncertainty, job loss and foreign competition.
APICS is an international organization that provides development courses
for professionals in manufacturing and service businesses. The Upper Cumberland
APICS Chapter is currently working to help service providers in manufacturing,
education and transportation industries as well as civic groups work together
to face common challenges.
The dinner and meeting are open to all community members, although seating
is limited. Registration is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Dinner begins at 6 p.m.;
the program begins at 6:45. Reservations are required and can be made
