COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 23, 2005) – Auditions for the spring production
of Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldini, translated and adapted
by Tom Cone, will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 28 and March 1,
from 7-10 p.m. at Tennessee Tech University’s Backdoor Playhouse.
Auditions will consist of cold-readings from the script, and prior preparation
is not necessary. Roles are available for six males and five females.
Rehearsals will begin Monday, March 14, and continue into mid-April,
with the production’s opening night scheduled for April 21. The
show will round out the 50th season of the Tech Players.
The play has been described as “a classic comedy filled with humor
on all sides — from dialogue and characterization to the action
of the play itself,” and critics have applauded both Cone’s
faithfulness to Goldini’s original work and his ability to work
in humor for a new generation of audience members.
Mark H. Creter will direct the Center Stage event, which will feature
traditional commedia masks and costumes.
For more information or to request a copy of the script, call Creter
at 931/372-3478.
