Resident artist exhibit opens March 9 at the Appalachian Craft Center

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2005) – The Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University, will feature an exhibit by six resident artists from March 9 through April 13 in Gallery Two.

A reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, with each artist presenting short slide lectures beginning at 6 p.m.

The six artists featured in the exhibit include Lisa Klakulak, who specializes in fiber; Masako Onodera, metals and glass; Alec Slinde, textiles; Wes Smith, clay; Ethan Stern, glass; and Kimberly Winkle, wood.

Each artist’s representation of his or her medium engages the mind for further consideration of the work. Content, technique and materials are highlights of their work.

The Craft Center is located at 1560 Craft Center Drive in Smithville, approximately six miles from Interstate 40. To get there, take Exit 273 and go south on Highway 56 to Hurricane Bridge and make an immediate left turn.

For more information, please call Gail Looper, gallery manager, or Alec Slinde, exhibitions resident, at 615-597-6801.
