COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2005) — These works are among a powerful
exhibit of student paintings featuring interpretations of images from
Hurricane Katrina that will be on display through Nov. 8 in the lobby
of Tennessee Tech University’s Bryan Fine Arts Building. The students’
work depicts portraits of victims, cityscapes of the flooding and destruction,
aerial views of the storm and interpretation of the Doppler radar tracking
the storm’s progress. While some students focused on the grim sadness
and darkness of the destruction resulting from the disaster, others chose
to use more intense color to bring about a feeling of hope. Photo: TTU
