COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 2005) – The Tennessee Tech University
Wind Ensemble comes sweeping through Wattenbarger Auditorium on Wednesday,
Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The concert opens the season with the Director of
Bands, Joseph Hermann, conducting.
The selections will vary from Vaughn Williams’ “Flourish
for Glorious John,” Frank Ticheli’s “Symphony No. 2”
and “Escapade” by Joseph Spaniola, the U.S. Air Force composer
and arranger.
“The program will represent many styles of music,” said Hermann.
“There shouldn’t be anyone who won’t find a favored
piece on this program.”
Also included in the program is a piece by Cookeville composer Robert
Jager entitled “Variations on a Theme of Robert Schumann.”
The piece is a variation of Schumann’s “Happy Farmer”
melody with an imaginative spin by Jager.
Wattenbarger Auditorium is located in the Bryan Fine Arts Building and
the concert is free and open to the general public.
