COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 7, 2005) — Tennessee Tech University music
professor William Woodworth will present a faculty oboe and English horn
recital on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Wattenbarger Auditorium.
Accompanying him will be Catherine Godes on the piano.
The recital will feature a myriad of compositions with great diversity,
including LeClair’s “Concerto” in C; Grovlez’s
famous “Sarabande and Allegro;” “Pastorale” by
Howard Hanson; Gamal Abdel-Rahim’s “The Lotus Pond,”
performed on English horn, and a Paris Conservatory Competition Solo composed
by Charles Colin.
Woodworth has been professor at TTU for 18 years and is active as a teacher,
adjudicator, clinician and performer. He is a player with the famed Cumberland
Quintet and the Bryan Symphony Orchestra.
He has been featured as a studio musician on more than 500 recordings
and has performed at the Opry House and the Ryman Auditorium. Woodworth
has performed with various renowned performers and groups including the
Nashville Chamber Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, John Denver, Alan Jackson
and Tammy Wynette.
Wattenbarger Auditorium is located inside the Bryan Fine Arts Building
and the recital is free and open to the general public.
