COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 16, 2006) – Tennessee Tech University professor
of trombone Joshua Hauser is set to present a chamber music recital Friday,
Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at Wattenbarger Auditorium.
Joining him will be a wide array of musical talent, including Paul Thurmond
on piano and harpsichord, mezzo-soprano Diane Pulte, Dan Alcott on cello,
Charles Decker on trumpet and the Trombones at Tech student choir conducted
by Joseph Hermann.
The concert will feature works ranging from the 1705 composition “Alme
Ingrate” for trombone, mezzo-soprano and continuo by Emperor Joseph
I to the 2002 “Sonata for Trombone and Piano” by John Stevens.
Other works to be performed include “Fandango” by Joseph
Turrin, “Cogent Caprice” by Los Angeles trombonist Tommy Pederson
and “Chocolate Kisses” by Eric Street.
“The lyrics are very appropriate in light of the recent passing
of Valentine’s Day and I won’t spoil the surprise by telling
you anymore — but hilarity will ensue, I guarantee,” said
Hauser, of the piece by Street.
Wattenbarger Auditorium is located inside the Bryan Fine Arts Building
and the concert will be free and open to the public.
