COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (June 2, 2006) – Marketing students from Tennessee
Tech University represented themselves well at this year’s International
American Marketing Association Collegiate Conference in Orlando, Fla.
The 14-student club received awards for excellence in chapter planning
and communications and was also selected as a finalist for the O. Karl
Mann Web Site Award.
Under the direction of the now late TTU professor, the university’s
Marketing Club achieved national prominence for its leadership and community
service. The new award pays tribute to Dr. Mann’s information technology
contributions to the AMA Collegiate Division.
In addition, the students were also invited to conduct a senior session
on chapter operations.
Representing TTU were students Laura Beth Boles, Tabitha Coates, Phillip
Galbreath, Paul Guinn, Caleb Hamby, Tabitha Hamby, Kirsten Hassler, Tara
Lawson, Barrett McClerkin, Marcellus Rochelle, Lynn Roden, Garrett Smith,
Christopher Sydor and April Williams.
The students also designed an exhibition of virtual trivia, testing well-known
advertising slogans of the past century. Participants answering correctly
were awarded with “virtual fuel” for their vehicles until
crossing the finish line.
