COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (March 15, 2006) – A concert featuring the Cumberland
Quintet, a faculty ensemble of Tennessee Tech University, will be presented
on Thursday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wattenbarger Auditorium.
Works range from classical to 20th century compositions and include a
trio for flute, oboe and clarinet by Haydn, an arrangement of songs from
Kurt Weill’s “Threepenny Opera,” and a performance of
Aaron Copland’s, “As It Fell Upon a Day,” by faculty
guest vocalist Diane Pulte and the quintet’s flutist Roger Martin
and clarinetist Anne Thurmond.
The Cumberland Quintet has been the standard by which wind composition
has been set in the South and Midwest since their establishment in 1972.
Wattenbarger Auditorium is located inside the Bryan Fine Arts Building
and the concert will be free and open to the public.
