COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 31, 2006) – Tennessee Tech University will
present a faculty flute recital by Roger Martin on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at
7:30 pm in the Wattenbarger Auditorium. Admission is free, and the recital
is open to the public.
Martin will be accompanied by Paul Thurmond on piano and professional
flutist Kathy Bowers.
Featured pieces will be variations on a “Theme of Corelli for two
flutes” by French Baroque composer Michel Blavet, “Sonata
for flute and piano” by American composer Robert Muczynski, “Prelude”
and “Clair de Lune” from “Suite Bergamasque” by
French composer Claude Debussy, and Russian composer Otar Taktakishvili’s
“Sonata for flute and piano."
From the energetic, rhythmic piece by Muczynski, to Debussy’s beautiful
transcriptions of original piano works, to the toe-tapping rhythmic drive
of Taktakishvili’s Sonata, it’s a compilation of classical
charm.
