COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2006) — Two area high school students,
center, Will Pickering of the McCallie School in Chattanooga and, right,
John Cooper of Oak Ridge High School, each won $2,000 and Texas Instruments
graphing calculators recently at the Who Wants to Be a Mathematician competition
presented by the American Mathematical Society and held at Tennessee Tech
University. Presenting their awards is, left, Mike Breen, the AMS representative
who hosts the contest. Cooper and Pickering were among eight students
